At Walnut and West Rittenhouse is The Church of the Holy Trinity Episcopal. Across the street at 1921 Walnut is a wonderful beaux-arts home with a gorgeous front door adorned with iron framing and wood paneled interior entry way and lobby. It was this door I shot with a reflection of the church entry overlaying the paneling. A lone tree frames one side.
A national landmark the Holy Trinity, seen here in an exterior detail was designed by Scottish architect John Notman and completed in1859. The interior details that blend with church across Walnut is a Jacobean mansion built for Thomas McKean, whose members included a signer of the Declaration of Independence and a Pennsylvania governor, McKean presented the house to his son, Henry Pratt McKean, as a wedding gift in 1870.
