Reflected in the amazingly high glass tower of 300 N LaSalle Street, are the reflections of apartment towers across the Chicago River and the iconic Britannica tower of the Reid, Murdoch & Co. Building at 325 North LaSalle Street along the Chicago River between LaSalle Street and Clark Street. The Reid, Murdoch & Co. Building is one of the few buildings to survive the Great Chicago Fire of 1871 and now rather dwarfed by its glassy neighbors.
The Reid, Murdoch & Co. Building, also known as the Reid Murdoch Building, the Reid Murdoch Center or the City of Chicago Central Office Building, is a seven-story office building in Chicago. It was constructed in 1914 and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. The building was designed by George C. Nimmons for Reid, Murdoch & Company to be used as offices and a grocery warehouse. The building currently houses the headquarters of Encyclopedia Britannica.
