From the stylish Swiss watch company, Breitling, a moment of comic book urgency from their “Runway Collection” casts over the Four Seasons at 57 East 57th Street, as seen in reflection. This photograph, one of my favorites, blends the tradition of 1960’s American pop art, comic book drama, kissable lips and hyperbolic tension with today's 57th street hustle.
The more things change, the more they stay the same. Breitling, first begun in 1884, became the go-to for aviators seeking their precise chronometers. New York midtown icon Four Seasons designed in 1980 by the celebrated I. M. Pei & Frank Williams. In 1992 the Four Seasons was lionized as number 3 of the 15 most expensive hotels in the world at $50,000 a night…and that was 1992.
